Introduction to fostering
At Fostering Support Group we are proud that all our carers are professionals who work with staff and clients as part of a team. In addition, our carers are recruited because of their genuine concern for the well being of children. Each carer is rigorously assessed and constantly supported, trained and monitored to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for each child. Our carers come from a wide range of religious, cultural and economic backgrounds

Fostering can make a real difference to the quality of children's lives, and whilst it can be demanding it can also be immensely fulfilling and rewarding.

There are many reasons why children may be fostered, usually stemming from their own parents being unable to look after them. They may come from a broken home, or they may have been neglected or abused. Often the fostering is only temporary and is designed to give the child's family a chance to sort out their problems, after which the child can return home. The care and attention children receive from their foster carers can have a huge effect on their future.

Whilst fostering is a full-time career with enormous responsibilities, anyone can become a foster carer as long as they have the desire and the dedication to care for children who can no longer live with their own families.
